brahmano'sya mukhmasid bahu rajanyah kritah. uru tadasya yadvaishyah padbhyan shudro ajayat.. athva purushasya mukhan brahm kshatrametasya bahvah. urvae rvaishyo bhagvtah padbhyan shudro'bhyajayat.. virat purush ke mukh se brahman, bhujaon se kshatriya, janghon se vaishya aur pairon se shudron ki utpatti hui hai. inke nam se hi char varnon (brahman, kshatriya, vaishya, shudra) ki pradhanta hai aur inke char mukhya tyohar, kramshah raksha bandhan, dashhra (vijya dashmi), dipavli aur holi hain. kyonki charon varnon ki utpatti virat ke ek sharir se hai, islie pratyek manav ke sharir men charon varn nihit hain. atah mul rup se yah kahna sarvatha galat hoga ki amuk tyohar amuk varn se sanbandhit hai. han, aisa sanbhav hai ki amuk varn ke lie amuk tyohar ki vishesh pradhanta ho. parantu sanpurn tyoharon men holi sarvashreshth hai. jis prakar makan men ninv (adhar) ka hi mahatva hai, usi prakar sharir rupi ghar ke lie pair hi adhar stanbh hain. sab dharmon ki siddhi ka mul seva hai. seva kiye bina koi bhi dharm siddh nahin hota. atah mulbhut seva hi jiska dharm hai, vah shudra sab varnon se mahan hai. jab shudra sab varnon se mahan hai, to fir uske lie nirdharit holi ka tyohar bhi sarvashreshth ho jata hai. brahman ka dharm moksh ke lie, kshatriya ka dharm bhog ke lie, vaishya ka dharm arth ke lie aur shudra ka dharm dharm ke lie hai. atah iski vritti se hi bhagvan prasann ho jate hain. svayan bhagvan shri krishn ne dvarikavasiyon, brajvasiyon, apni raniyon, patraniyon evan ahladini shakti radha ke sath holi ka utsav manaya hai. svayan devta bhi is anand men piche nahin rahe. bhagvan shankar ne to shmashan ki rakh se hi holi khel kar apne ko kritkritya kiya. holi ka parva prativarsh falgun shukla paksh purnima ko manaya jata hai. yah do bhagon men vibhakt hai. purnima ko holi ka pujan aur holika dahan tatha falgun krishn pratipda ko rang- gulal, kichad adi se holi. holi, holika dahan nirnay pradosh vyapini grahya purnima falguni sada. tasyan bhadramukhan tyaktva pujya hola nishamukhe.. iti nard-vachnat pradoshavyapinityuktam. sada falgun mas ki purnima ko pradoshavyapini grahan karen. usmen bhadra ke mukh ko tyag kar nisha mukh men holi ka pujan karen. ise narad ke vachan se pradoshavyapini grahan karen. hemadri tatha madanaratn men bhi bhavishya puran ka vachan hai ki he parth, is purnima men ratri ke ane par gomay se kiye hue chaikor grihangan (ghar ke chaik) men balkon ki raksha karen. ityadi se vahan par uska vidhan kaha hai. isse yah purva viddha (arthat purva din hi pradosh kal men prapt hone par) grahan karen. shravni durga navmi, durgashtami, hutashni (holi), shiv ratri tatha bali ke din ve sab purva viddha hi karne chahie. yah brihadyam aur brahmavaivart puran men kaha hai: donon din pradosh kal men prapt hon, to dusra hi grahan karen. sayahne holikan kuryat purvahne kridnan gavam. nirnayamrit ke anusar sayahn men holika karen aur purvahn men gauon ki krida karan. jyotirnibandhetu- pratipad bhut bhadrasu ya'rchita holika diva. sanvatsaran ch tadrashtran puran dahti sabhutam.. jyotirnibandh men kaha hai ki pratipda, chaturdashi aur bhadra men jo holika ko din men pujit karta hai, vah ek varsh tak us desh (rashtra) aur nagar ko ashcharya se dahan karta hai. pratham din pradosh ke samay bhadra ho aur dusre din suryast se pahle purnima samapt hoti ho, to bhadra ke samapt hone ki pratiksha kar ke suryaeday hone se purva holi ka dahan karna chahie. (chandraprakash) yadi pahle din pradosh n ho aur ho, to bhi ratri bhar bhadra rahe (suryoday hone se pahle n utre) aur dusre din suryast se pahle hi purnima samapt hoti ho, to aise avasar men pahle din bhadra ho, to bhi uske puchch men holika dipan kar dena chahie. (bhavishyottar evan lalla). yadi pahle din ratri bhar bhadra rahe aur dusre din pradosh ke samay purnima ka uttarardh maujud bhi ho, to bhi us samay yadi chandra grahan ho, to aise avasar men pahle din bhadra ho, tab bhi suryast ke piche holi jala deni chahie. (muhurt chintamni). yadi dusre din pradosh ke samay purnima ho aur bhadra usse pahle utrne vali ho, kintu chandra grahan ho, to uske shuddh hone ke piche snan-danadi kar ke holika dahan karna chahie. (smriti kaustubh) yadi falgun do hon (malmas ho) to shuddh mas (dusre falgun) ki purnima ko holika dahan karna chahie. (dharmasar) hutashni malmase n bhavti. holi pujan vichar holi ka pujnotsav rahasyapurn hai. ismen holi, dhundha, prahlad to mukhya hain hi, iske alava is din navanneshti yagya bhi sanpann hota hai. isi paranpra se ‘dharmadhvaj’ rajaon ke yahan maghi purnima ke prabhat men shur, samant aur sabhya manushya gaje-baje sahit nagar se bahar van men ja kar shakha sahit vriksh late hain aur usko, gandh-akshatadi se puja kar, nagar ya ganv se bahar pashchim disha men aropit kar ke sthit kar dete hain. janta men yah holi dand (holi ka danda) ya prahlad ke nam se prasiddh hai. yadi ise ‘navanneshti’ ka yagya stanbh mana jae, to nirarthak nahin hoga. vrati ko chahie ki vah falgun shukla purnima ko pratah snanadi ke anantar ‘mam balak balkadibhiah sah sukhshanti-praptyarthan holika vratan karishye’ se sankalp kar ke kashth khand ke khadg banva kar balkon ko deven tatha unko utsahi sainik banaven. ve niahshank ho kar khel-kud karen aur paraspar hansen. iske atirikt holika ke dahan sthan ko jal chidak kar shuddh kar ke usmen sukha kashth, sukhe uple aur sukhe kante adi ka sthapan karen. punah sayan kal ke samay prasann man se sanpurn purvasiyon evan gaje-baje ke sath holi ke samip ja kar shubhasan par purva ya uttar mukh ho kar baithen aur ‘mam sakutunbasya saprivarasya puragramasthajanapadasahitasya va sarvapachchantiprashmnpurvak- sakal shubhafal praptyarthan dhundha priti kamnya holika pujan karishye’ yah sankalp kar ke purnima prapt hone par achut ya sutika ke ghar se balkon dvara agni mangva kar, holi ko diptiman karen aur chaitanya hone par gandh, akshat, pushpadi se shodshopchar pujan kar ke ‘‘asrikpabhysantrastaiah kritva tvan holi balishaiah. atastvan pujyishyami bhute bhutiprada bhav..’’ is mantra se tin pradakshina ya prarthana kar ke aghrya den tatha lok prasiddh holi dand (prahlad) ya shastriya ‘yagya stanbh’ ko, shital jal se abhishikt kar ke, ekant men rakh den. uprant ghar se laye hue kheda, khanda aur varkuliya adi ko holi men dal kar jau, gehun ki bal aur chane ke holon ko holi ki jvala se sakan aur yagya siddh navann tatha holi ki agni tatha bhasm le kar ghar aven. vahan a kar vas sthan ke prangan men gobar se chaika laga kar annadi ka sthapan karan. us avasar par kashth ke khandon ko sparsh kar ke balakagan hasya sahit shabd uchcharen. balkon ka ratri ane par sanrakshan kiya jaye aur gud ke bane hue pakvan (pua-pudi) unko khane ko den. is prakar karne se dhandha ke dosh shant ho jate hain aur holi ke utsav se abhutpurva sukh-shanti milti hai. holi ki prasangikta katha prahlad daityaraj hiranyakshipu ka putra tha. vah balyavastha se hi bhagvan vishnu ka param bhakt tha. hiranyakshipu ghor tapasya kar brahma ji se divya vardan prapt kar uska durupyog karne laga. usne indrasan par bhi apna adhikar kar liya tatha apne bhai hiranyaksh ke vadhakatrta bhagvan vishnu se vishesh vidvesh karne laga. sanbhvtah isi ki pratikriya svarup unke putra prahlad men vishnu (krishna) ke prati bhakti bhavna, devarshi narad ji ki kripa se, jagrit ho gayi thi. ek bar hiranyakshipu ne apne putra ki shiksha ke sanbandh men janne ka prayas kiya, to putra ki bhakti bhavna ka gyan hua. is par krodhit ho kar unhonne prahlad ko god se niche jamin par patak diya tatha yatnaon ka pahad prahlad par tut pada. prahlad ke marm sthanon ko shulon se bhidvaya, bade-bade matvale hathiyon se use kuchlvaya, vishadhar nagon se dansvaya, purohiton se kritya rakshasi utpann karayi, pahad ki choti se niche fikva diya, shanbrasur se anekon prakar ki maya ka prayog karvaya, andheri kothriyon men band karaya, vish pilaya, bhojan band kar diya, barfili jagah, dahkti hui ag aur samudra men bari-bari se dalvaya, andhi men chod diya, parvat ke niche dabva diya. svayan hiranyakshipu ki bahan holika prahlad ko god men le kar ag men baith gayi. parantu bhagavat kripa se jo dupatta holika ko brahmaji se prapt hua tha, vahi dupatta bhakt prahlad ke sharir par, vayudev ki kripa se, a pada aur holika ki shakti, jo dupatte men nihit thi, chali jane ke karan vah dhvans ho gayi. bhakt prahlad hari nam smaran karte hue sakushal agni se bahar nikal aye. punah hiranyakshipu ka vadh bhagvan nrisinh ke dvara ho gaya. isi punit avasar par navin dhanya (jau, gehanu, chane) ke khet pak kar taiyar ho gaye aur manav samaj men un dhanyon ko upyog men lene ka prayojan bhi upasthit ho gaya. kintu dharm pran hindu bhagvan yagyaeshvar ko arpan kiye bina navin ann ko upyog men nahin le sake. atah falgun shukla purnima ko samidhasvarup uple adi ko ekatrit kar ke, usmen yagya ki vidhi se agni sthapan, pratishtha, prajjvalan evan pujan kar ke vividh rakshoghn mantron se yav godhumadi ke charu svarup balon ki ahuti di aur hutshesh dhanya ko ghar la kar pratishthit kiya. usi se pranon ka poshan ho kar sabhi prani hrishta-pusht aur balishth hue tatha holi ke rup men navanneshti yagya ko sanpann kiya. tabhi se holi pujan ki yah paranpra manav samaj men viksit ho gayi. ise vasant ritu ke agaman men kiya gaya mahayagya bhi mante hain. lok paranpra ke anusar nav vivahita stri ko pratham bar sasural ki jalti holi nahin dekhni chahie. pratipda ka bhavya hoti utsav dhulaindi holi ke agle din chaitra krishn pratipda ko sabhi balak, vriddh, nar-nari, bhanti-bhanti ki pichkariyan aur anek prakar ke rang-gulal adi se ek dusre se holi ka khel khelte hain. vibhinn prakar ke rangon se chehre ko pot dete hain. gramin kshetron men to nali ki gandi kichad, gaddhon men bhare hue pani se hi ek dusre ko sarabor karte hain. sal bhar ki ishrya evan dvesh bhavna man se mit jati hain. ek dusre ko ashlil galiyan adi bhi dete hain. bade-budhon ka charan sparsh kar ke arshivad lete hain. bhai-bhai apas men gale milte hain. braj mandal men to yah utsav pure falgun mas hi manaya jata hai. holi se purva navmi, dashmi, ekadshi ko barsana, nandganv, vrindavan men latthamar holi evan rang ki holi apne ap men divya hai, jise dekhne bharatavarsh ke kone-kone se tatha videshon se bhi bhakt kafi sankhya men ate hain. sab jor-jor se holi git aur rasiya gate hain; uchlte-kudte aur fandte hain. holi git gane, hansne tatha nirbhik niahsankoch bolne ka ayurvedik mahatva bhi hai. gane ka gale se sanbandh hone ke karan gale ki puri kasarat ho jati hai. parinamtah kaf dab jata hai. abir-gulal ke gale men jane se fefde tatha gale men ruki kaf saf ho jati hai. parantu badi vidanbna hai ki aj ke manav samaj ne holi ke is tyohar ko dushit kar diya hai. prani shatru bhavna se holi khelte hain. purani dushmani nikalte hain. yuva varg kam vasna ki bhavna se hi stri varg par rang dalna, gulal lagana adi kriyaen karta hai, jo nitant galat aur jaghanya apradh hanai. inse bachna chahie.
