keshant sanskar vedaranbh ke pashchat aur samavartan sanskar se pahle kiya jata hai. jo vidyarthi vidyadhyayan ke liye gurukul athva guru ke ashram men jata hai, vah puri tarah se brahmacharya vrat ka palan karta hai. vidyadhyayn ki purn avdhi tak kesh nahin katvata aur mauji mekhla adi dharan karta hai. keshant sanskar ke antargat vidyadhyayan purn ho jane par yah brahmachari mauji mekhla ka parityag karta hai aur apne barhe huye kesh katvata hai. kesh se tatparya yahan darhi ke kesh se liya jata hai. darhi ka ana yuvavastha ka pratik bhi mana jata hai. keshant sanskar gurukul men hi sanpann kiya kiya jata hai. is sanskar men bhi sabhi vidhi-vidhan ka palan kiya jata hai. anya sanskaron ki hi tarh keshant sanskar ke praranbh men ganesh adi devon ka pujan kiya jata hai. iske pashchat brahmachari ki darhi banane ki kriya sanpann ki jati hai. darhi ko shmashru bhi kaha jata hai, isliye kahin-kahin is sanskar ko shmashru sanskar bhi kaha gaya hai. iske bare men sanskar dipk men ullekh milta hai- keshanam antah samipasthitah shmashrubhag iti vyutpattya keshantashabden shmashrunambhidhanat shmashrusanskar evan keshantashabden pratipadyate. at evashvalaynenapi ‘shmashrunihondati’. iti shmashrunan sanskar evatropdishtah. is sanskar ke bare men kahin-kahin par godan sanskar ka nam bhi aya hai. kesh (balane) ko gau ke nam se bhi jana jata hai. godan sanskar ke bare men kaha gaya hai- gavo lomani kesha diyante khandayante'sminniti vyutpattya godanan nam brahmanadinan shodshadishu varsheyu kartavyan keshantakhyan karmochyate. tatparya yah hai ki gau arthat lom-kesh jismen kat diye jate hain. is vyutpatti ke anusar brahmana adi varnon ke liye godan pad ka yahan ullekh hua hai. in varnon ke dvara solhven varsh men karne yogya keshant namak karm ka vachak hai. vidvanon ke anusar yah sanskar keval uttarayan men kiya jata hai. is sanskar ko solhven varsh men karne ka vidhan bataya gaya hai. is ayu se purva yah sanskar prayah nahin hota hai. iske pashchat brahmachari shiksharthi ko vapis apne ghar jane ki agya mil jati hai. iske pashchat hi use vivah sanskar karne ka adhikar bhi prapt ho jata hai. is sanskar ka pratikatmak mahattva hi adhik hai arthat brahmachari jab apni shiksha purn kar leta tha to use ek naya svarup dene ke liye uske darhi ke bal kat diye jate the. vidvan iska tatparya is bat se bhi lete hain ki ab yah vyakti apne jivan ki dusri jimmedariyon ko pura karne ke liye purn rup se tatpar hai. jab yah vyakti apne ghar lautta hai to samavartan sanskar ke madhyam se yah nishchit kar liya jata tha ki is vyakti ki shiksha purn ho gai hai, isliye ise vivah karke grihasth jivan jine ki agya di jati hai. vartaman men is sanskar ka vishesh mahattva nahin dekha jata hai. sanskaron ke sandarbha men iska ullekh karna avashyak tha, isliye yahan is sanskar ka sankshipt parichay hi diya gaya hai.
