ab hemant ritu ai. uske pahle hi mahine men arthat margashirsh men nandbaba ke braj ki kumariyan katyayni devi ki puja aur vrat karne lagin. ve keval havishyanna hi khati thin. rajn! ve kumari kanyaen purva disha ka kshitij lal hote-hote yamunajal men snan kar letin aur tat par hi devi ki balukamyi murti banakar sugandhit chandan, fulon ke har, bhanti-bhanti ke naivedya, dhup-dip, choti-bari bhent ki samagri, pallav, fal aur chaval adi se unki puja kartin. sath hi ‘katyayni mahamaye mahayoginyadhishvari. nandagopsutan devi patin me kuru te namah. iti mantran japantyastaah pujan chakrah kumarikaah..’ is mantra ka jap karti huin ve kumariyan devi ki aradhna kartin. is prakar un kumariyon ne, jinka man shrikrishn par nichavar ho chuka tha, is sankalp ke sath ek mahine tak bhadrakali ki bhalibhanti puja ki ki ‘nandnandan shyamsundar hi hamare pati hon’. ve pratidin ushakal men hi nam le-lekar ek-dusri sakhi ko pukar letin aur paraspar hath men hath dalakar unche svar se bhagvan shrikrishn ki lila tatha namon ka gan karti hui yamunajal men snan karne ke lie jatin. ek din sab kumariyon ne pratidin ki bhanti yamunaji ke tatapar jakar apne-apne vastra utar die aur bhagvan shrikrishn ke gunon ka gan karti hui bare anand se jal-krira karne lagin. parikshit! bhagvan shrikrishn sankadi yogiyon aur shankar adi yogishvaron ke bhi ishvar hain. unse gopiyon ki abhilasha chipi n rahi. ve unka abhipray janakar apne sakha gvalbalon ke sath un kumariyon ki sadhna safal karne ke lie yamuna tat par gae. unhonne akele hi un gopiyon ke sare vastra ura lie aur bari furti se kadanb ke ek vriksh par charh gae. sathi gvalbal thatha-thathakar hansne lage aur svayan shrikrishn bhi hanste hue gopiyon se hansi ki bat kahne lage. ‘ari kumariyo! ichcha ho, to tum yahan akar apne-apne vastra le jao. main tum logon se sach-sach kahta hun. hansi bilkul nahin karta. tum log vrat karte-karte dubli ho gai ho. ye mere sakha gvalbal jante hain ki mainne kabhi koi jhuthi bat nahin kahi hai. sundriyo! tumhari ichcha ho, to alg-alag akar apne-apne vastra le lo, ya sab ek sath ao. mujhe ismen koi apÿia nahin hai.’ bhagvan ki yah hansi maskhri dekhakar gopiyon ka hriday prem se sarabor ho gaya. ve tanik sakuchakar ek dusri ki or dekhne aur muskrane lagin. jal se bahar nahin niklin. jab bhagvan ne hansi-hansi men yah bat kahi, tab unke vinod se kumariyon ka chiÿa aur bhi unki or khinch gaya. ve thande pani men kanth tak dubi hui thin aur unka sharir thar-thar kanp raha tha. unhonne shrikrishn se kaha- ‘pyare shrikrishna! tum aisi aniti mat karo. ham janti hain ki tum nandbaba ke larle lala ho. hamare pyare ho. sare brajvasi tumhari sarahna karte rahte hain. dekho, ham jare ke mare thithur rahi hain. tum hamen hamare vastra de do. shyamsudanr te dasyah karvam tavoditam. dehi vasansi dharmagya no ched ragyae bruvamhe.. pyare shyamsundr! ham tumhari dasi hain. tum jo kuch kahoge, use ham karne ke lie taiyar hain. tum to dharm ka marm bhalibhanti jante ho. hamane kasht mat do. hamare vastra hamen de do; nahin to ham jakar nandbaba se kah dengi.’ bhavatye yadi me dasyo mayokt va karishyath. atrasgatya svavasansi pratichchantu shuchismitaah.. bhagvan shrikrishn ne kaha- ‘kumariyo! tumhari muskan pavitrata aur prem se bhari hai. dekho, jab tum apne ko meri dasi svikar karti ho aur meri agya ka palan karna chahti ho to yahan akar apne-apne vastra le lo.’ ‘parikshit! ve kumariyan thand se thithur rahi thin, kanp rahi thin. bhagvan ki aisi bat sunakar ve apne donon hathon se gupt angon ko chipakar yamunaji se bahar niklin. us samay thand unhen bahut hi sata rahi thi. unke is shuddh bhav se bhagvan bahut hi prasann hue. unhen apne pas ai dekhakar unhonne gopiyon ke vastra apne kandhe par rakh lie aur bari prasannata se muskrate hue bole- ‘ari gopiyo! tumne jo vrat liya tha, use achchi tarah nibhaya hai, ismen sandeh nahin. parantu is avastha men vastrahin hokar tumne jal men snan kiya hai, isse to jal ke adhishthata devta varun ka tatha yamuna ji ka apradh hua hai. atah ab is dosh ki shanti ke lie tum apne hath jorakar sir se lagao aur unhane jhukakar pranam karo, tadnantar apne-apne vastra le jao.’ bhagvan shrikrishn ki bat sunakar un brajkumariyon ne aisa hi samjha ki vastav men vastrahin hokar snan karne se hamare vrat men truti a gai. atah uski nirvighn purti ke lie unhonne samast karmon ke sakshi shrikrishn ko namaskar kiya, kyaneki unhen namaskar karne se hi sari trutiyon aur apradhon ka marjan ho jata hai. jab yashodanandan bhagvan shrikrishn ne dekha ki sab-ki-sab kumariyan meri agya ke anusar pranam kar rahi hain, tab ve bahut hi prasann hue. unke hriday men karuna umar ai aur unhonne unke vastra de die. priya parikshit! shrikrishn ne kumariyon se chalbhri baten kin, unka lajja-sankoch churaya, hansi ki aur unhen kathputliyon ke saman nachaya; yahan tak ki unke vastra tak har lie. fir bhi ve unse rusht nahin huin, unki in cheshtaon ko dosh nahin mana, balki apne priyatam ke sang se ve aur bhi prasann huin. parikshit! gopiyon ne apne-apne vastra pahan lie. parantu shrikrishn ne unke chiÿa ko is prakar apne vash men kar rakha tha ki ve vahan se ek pag bhi n chal sakin. apne priyatam ke samagam ke lie sajakar ve unhin ki or lajile chitavan se niharti rahin. bhagvan shrikrishn ne dekha ki un kumariyon ne unke charan kamlon ke sparsh ki kamna se hi vrat dharan kiya hai aur unke jivan ka yahi ek matra sankalp hai. tab gopiyon ke prem ke adhin hokar ukhal tak men bandh jane vale bhagvan ne unse kaha-‘meri param peraysi kumariyo! main tumhara yah sankalp janta hun ki tum meri puja karna chahti ho. tumhari is abhilasha ka anumodan karta hun, tumhara yah sankalp satya hoga. tum meri puja kar sakogi. jinhonne apna man aur pran mujhe samarpit kar rakha hai, unki kamnaen unhen sansarik bhogon ki or le jane men samarth nahin hotin; thik vaise hi, jaise bhune ya uble hue bij fir ankur ke rup men ugne ke yogya nahin rah jate. islie kumariyo! ab tum apne-apne ghar laute jao. tumhari sadhna siddh ho gai hai, tum ane vali sharad ritu ki ratriyon men mere sath vihar karogi. sundriyo! isi uddeshya se tum logon ne yah vrat aur katyayni devi ki puja ki thi.’ shrishukdev ji kahte hain- ‘parikshit! bhagvan ki yah agya pakar ve kumariyan unke charan kamlon ka smarana-dhyan karti hui jane ki ichcha n hone par bhi bare kasht se braj gain. ab unki sari kamnaen purn ho chuki thin.’ gopikaon ke katyayni vrat ki is katha ke dvara sadhna vishayak kuch aise mahatvapurn tathyon ki or sanket kiya gaya hai, jinhen hridyangam karke koi bhi vratakarta sadhak manovanchit fal prapt kar sakta hai. ve dhyatavya sutra nimnanusar hain. û shastrokt vratane ke vidhivat anushthan se atidurlabh vastuen bhi sulabh ban jati hain. itna hi nahin, bhagvan ki kripa bhi sahaj hi prapt ho jati hai. û vrat ke anushthan kal men sankalp ki drirhta, niyam-palan ki kathorta, purn shraddha aur ananyabhav atyant avashyak shart hai. û sachchi lagan se upasna karne par bhagvan bhakton ke samip svayan hi chale ate hain. û jo jis sankalp se vrat karta hai, use vaise hi fal ki prapti hoti hai. atah yathasanbhav nishkam bhav se bhagavatprityarth vratacharya men dikshit hona hi uÿam paksh hai. û vratakarta jab bhagvan ka ashray grahan kar leta hai, tab agyantavash vrat men usse hone vali trutiyon ka parimarjan bhagvan svayan kara dete hain. û bhagvan ko shil, sankoch, lajja adi kisi prakar ka avaran svikarya nahin. islie ve vratakarta ke lie tab tak sulabh nahin hote, jab tak vah apni svabhavik dasha men atmasarpan nahin kar deta. sach hai, apne ahan ke avaran ko tyagakar hi koi bhakt bhagyavti gopiyon ke sadrish bhagvan ka anugrah prapt kar sakta hai.
