1. 3. Moon should not be in 6th, 8th or 12th house from Muhurt Lagna.
  2. 4. An auspicious venture should not be started in the month of Chaitra and Pushya.
  3. 5. Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga, Guru Pushya Yoga and Ravi Pushya Yoga prove to be auspicious to start auspicious ventures. These Yogas are mentioned there in the ephemeris and almanacs.
  4. 6. Construction of a house should not be started on Pratipada, Chaturthi, Ashtami, Navami, Chaturdashi and Amavasya.
  5. 7. Construction of a house should not be started in a moveable sign (1, 4, 7, 10) (according to some people Leo sign is also prohibited).
  6. 8. The Sun should be there in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 10th or 11th house at the time of starting the construction of a house. It means that the solar months of Vaishakha, Jyeshtha, Shrawan, Bhadrapad, Kartika, Margshirsha, Magh and Phalgun are auspicious.
  7. 9. Digging of plinth should be started from North West if the construction is to be started in the solar months of Vaishakha and Phalgun. It should be started from South West in the months of Jyeshtha and Shrawan, from Southeast in Bhadrapad and Kartik and from north east if the construction is to be started in the months of Margashirsha and Magh. Digging should be done clockwise.
  8. 10. The plot of land is supposed to be slept if the constellation of Moon is 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th, 19th or 26th from that of the Sun. It is also considered to be slept on 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th, 21st and 24th day of Sun Sankranti. The land should not be digged on these days for a well or to start constructing a house.
  9. 11. Mrigashira, Rewati, Chitra, Uttara Phalguni, Uttarashadha, Uttara bhadrapad, Swati, Pushya, Dhanistha, Shatbhisha, Hasta, Moola and Punarvasu are auspicious to start the construction of a house. (Some scholars consider Rohini, Anuradha and Ashwini constellation also to be auspicious). (According to some other scholars Rohini, Uttara Phalguni, Uttarashadha and Uttara bhadrapad are the most auspicious for house warming ceremony and to start construction of a house).
  10. 12. To start an auspicious venture the prohibited Yogas and Bhadras should also be considered.
  1. 13. Construction of a house must not be started on Tuesday, (According to some scholars Saturday and Sunday are also not auspicious for the same).
  2. 14. Construction of a house should not be started at the time of combustion of any planet.
  3. 15. Benefic planets in Kendra and trine and malefic ones in 3rd, 6th and 11th houses are said to be auspicious to start the construction of a house.
  4. 16. Lagna should be strong and correct.
  5. 17. Abhijit Muhurt should be applied if there is no auspicious Muhurt.
  6. 18. Cast a Vrisha Vastu Chakra and then make a calculation of constellation of Moon from that of the Sun while starting the construction of a house. In it the first seven constellations are considered to be inauspicious, the eleven thereafter auspicious and the last ten are considered to be inauspicious again. Abhijit is also included in it.
  7. 19. At the time of foundation laying ceremony, the articles to be put in plinth should be new and purified. Keep a copper pot (Lota) full of rice. Apart from this, 5 unused bricks, 5 different gems, a pair of Nag and Nagin, 5 cowries, 5 unbroken pieces of nut, Shreephal, some soil of a holy place (Teerthasthal), Gangajal (sacred water of the Ganga) and a red piece of cloth are also needed.
  8. 20. If the foundation laying ceremony is performed in any of the Bhadrapada, Aashwin and Kartik months, the Sarpa should be facing east. If in Phalgun, Chaitra or Vaishakha, then it should be facing west, in Jyestha, Ashadha or Shrawan it should be facing north and if it is performed in Margasheersha, Pausha or Magh then the Sarp should be facing south.
  9. 21. An 81 Pada Vastu Chakra is cast and 45 deities are worshipped at the time of starting construction and house warming ceremony. In construction of a village, town or a palace, a 64 Pad Vastu Mandal is suggested to be worshipped whereas in renovation, 49 Pada Vastu Mandal, in construction of a temple 100 Pada Vastu Mandal and in construction of a garden, 196 Pada Vastu Mandal should be worshipped.
  10. 22. The main gate on east side should be constructed between 9th of Krishnapaksha to the 14th of Shuklapaksha, between Amavasya to the 8th of, Krishnapaksha,

Remedies of Vastu

Scholars have mentioned some remedies to overcome Vastu faults. Some advise to perform Vastu Shanti and some to proritiate the planets. Some others advise to adopt remedies mentioned in Tantra-Mantra whereas some to wear Rudraksha.
