A tamarind tree is very large. Tamarind is sour in taste. Its leaves are used as vegetable whereas flowers are used in sauce. The timber of the tree is very hard. It is considered to be auspicious if it is planted in south west of the house.
“Fig Tree” (“Pakar”)
Pakar is also called Kaith and Plaksh. The tree is large. The fruit of Pakar is called Kaith. Its leaves are something like the leaves of bel. Planted north to the house it is said to be auspicious.
“Kadamb” ("Nauclea Cadamb")
The tree of Kadamb is large. Its leaves are wide and thick. Its fruits are like lemons. Its fruits bear flowers on them. If planted between south and south west of the house, the kadamb trees are considered to be auspicious.
Peepul has a religious importance for the Hindus. It is said that the evil effects of Saturn can be pacified by offering water to a Peepul tree on Saturday. This practice gives wealth and prosperity also. As mentioned in Agnipurana, a Peepul tree is considered to be very auspicious if planted west to the house. But if it is planted in east, it causes fear and destitution. It even causes death and agony if it is planted in south east.
