Karakamsa Lagna (Karakamsa)

Is the most important of all the lagnas. It is equivalent to the Janma lagna. In this regard, it becomes the starting point in Jaimini.

How is karakamsa Identified ?

  1. 1. Note who is the Atmakarak.
  2. 2. In Navamsa see in whose Rashi atmakarak is placed.
  3. 3. Mark that Rashi in the lagna Kundali. That will be the karakamsa lagna.

That rashi in navamsa is called SWAMSA. (Loka')

Definition : Karakamsa is the navamsa Rashi of the Atmakarak in the lagna kundali.

Pada Lagna

Pada lagna or Lagnarudha or Arudha lagna, is the second most important lagna. Whatever can be seen from Karakamsa can also be seen from Pada lagna.

How is Pada lagna Identified ?

  1. 1. See how many house ahead of lagna is lagna lord placed.
  2. 2. Count that many houses ahead of lagna lord. That will be Pada lagna.

Note : Counting will start from the house where lagna lord is placed, that house will be counted as 1.

Up-pada Lagna or Up-pada

Up-pada lagna has its own importance. It is mainly seen for matters relating to marriage. It is also seen for a few other matters like children and Co-borns.

How is Up-pada Identified?

  1. 1. See how many house ahead of 12th house is 12th lord placed.
  2. 2. Count that many houses ahead of 12th lord. That will be Up Pada.

Note : Counting will start from the house where lagna lord is placed that house will be counted as 1.

Arudha Padas of The 12 Houses

These are calculated exactly like the Pada lagna and the up pada. These are arudha for the 12 houses.
