The 27 Nakshatras have been divided into three Nadis i.e Aadya, Madhya, and Antya representing Vata, Pitta and Cough respectively. It is advisable in match making that the Nadi of both the boy and the girl should be entirely different. If it is so, then full 8 points or gunas are allotted. However, there are some cancellation rules for the doshas as well, but that is the secondary option. It is said that if both the boy and the girl have same Nadis i.e Aadya Nadis or Vata Nadis, There are chances of various kinds of ailments and diseases or sufferings. If both have the same Madhya Nadis or Pitta Nadis, there are chances of widowhood or death of the wife and if both have the same Antya Nadis or Cough Nadis, death of the children may take place.

Nadi Dosha is an important consideration in most parts of India. Marriage is strictly prohibited if there is Nadi Dosha in the horoscopes of both the boy and the girl. So, the Nadi Dosha should be analysed seriously taking utmost care. Nadi Dosha is related to the physical and mental health of the boy and the girl. Parents do not like to get their son or daughter married to a girl or boy who is bed ridden even if he/she is good looking, intelligent and learned. Health is the most important consideration as it is the base of life. That's why Nadi Koota milaan has been given the maximum 8 points. The following table clearly indicates how the points or gunas are allotted in Nadi Koota Milaan.

Horoscope Matching

Today “Horoscope matching” has become the indispensable part of Hindu marriage. But it has not been mentioned in any old Jataka scripture of Astrology. However, it has been described in the Muhurta scriptures of the same. In Ramayan, marriage of Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana and Shatrughna has been described elaborately. But, in this great epic also Horoscope matching has not been mentioned. Likewise, in Mahabharata, too, it has not been cited. Therefore, it can be said that Horoscope matching in Astrology was not in practice a few centuries ago. But, the community accepted and made it an indispensable part keeping its usefulness in view.
