Nadi Koota 11.
There are three variants of Nadis i.e. Aadya, Madhya and Antya. In the matching of Nadi if the Nadi of both the boy and girl are different then it is considered to be matching otehrwise not. Suppose the boy has Aadya Nadi and the girl has Madhya Nadi, in this case 8 points will be given in matching. On the contrary if both the counterparts have same Nadi suppose both have Aadya Nadi then there will be Nadi dosha and 0 point will be given. If there is Nadi dosha then marriage is not permissible barring it gets nullified by other principles.
Nadi Koota is the most important component of Ashtakoota Milaan and carries maximum 8 points. It is specially checked for Brahmins. However, it should be considered by all the Varnas irrespective of any distinction, if anyone wishes to have match making for the boy and the girl. Nadi is a Sanskrit word which has many meanings. Nadi or pulse is the central point and indicator of physical energy on which an individual's health and nature depends. In Ayurveda, three types of temperaments are indicated :
- 1.Vaat i.e Windy
- 2.Pitta i.e Bilious
- 3.Cough i.e Phlegm
The nature and sexual urge and also genetic effects can be inferred from the horoscopes of the boy and the girl so that they can have better adjustment in their conjugal relations. There are three 'Nadis' called Aadya, Madhya and Antya which represent certain specific nakshatras as shown in the table ahead.
Aadya, Madhya and Antya Nadis represent Vaat, Pitta and Cough respectively. These three are the sources of all kinds of diseases, ailments and troubles. Pitta changes the food juice into blood. Cough greases the joints, bones and other organs. Balance of Vata keeps the body free from certain ailments. The children of a couple belonging to the same Nadi have deficiencies like less haemoglobin in blood or lack of concentration in studies or work. A couple needs to be of different kinds of nerves
