Tara Koota 6.

There are nine taras which are determined according to the birth nakshatra. Compatibility between the boy and girl is seen taking into account the relationship of their respective taras. If the taras of both are favourable to each other then three points are allotted. But there is hardly any situation when three point is allotted. Maximum it is 1.5 points.

Astrosages have divided the 360° Zodiac into 12 houses of approx 30° each. In the same manner, the 12 houses have been subdivided into 27 Nakshatras of 13° 20' each. These Nakshatras have been further divided into 4 quarters called, the padas. The Nakshatra in which the Moon is placed at the time of birth is called the Janma Nakshatra. Janma Nakshatra has great significance in Astrology. It has always to keep in mind while electing auspicious muhurtas or matching the horoscope for marriage or other purposes.

All the 27 Nakshatras have been divided into 3 triads, each triad having 9 Nakshatras. These nine Nakshatras in each triad have been given different names which in combined manner are called Taras. These 9 different Taras are 1. Janma 2. Sampat 3. Vipat 4. Kshema 5. Pratyari 6. Sadhak 7. Vadha 8. Mitra and 9. Ati Mitra. Janma Tara begins with Janma Nakshatra and it moves subsequently. The following table and example will make it more clear and easily understandable. Suppose, someone is born in Ashwini Nakshatra. His different Tara's will be as follows:

Horoscope Matching

Today “Horoscope matching” has become the indispensable part of Hindu marriage. But it has not been mentioned in any old Jataka scripture of Astrology. However, it has been described in the Muhurta scriptures of the same. In Ramayan, marriage of Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana and Shatrughna has been described elaborately. But, in this great epic also Horoscope matching has not been mentioned. Likewise, in Mahabharata, too, it has not been cited. Therefore, it can be said that Horoscope matching in Astrology was not in practice a few centuries ago. But, the community accepted and made it an indispensable part keeping its usefulness in view.
