Biped (Human being)

Gemini, Virgo, Libra and the first half of Sagittarius and Aquarius are considered to be biped Rashis.

Aquatic (Jalachar)

Cancer, Pisces and the latter half of Capricorn is considered to be aquatic Rashis.

Wild (Vanachar)

Leo

Insect (Keeta)

Scorpio

All the five Vashyas mentioned above have been classified into the following 4 categories:

  • Vashya
  • Mitra
  • Shatru
  • ƒBhakshya

Barring Scorpio, every Rashi is the Vashya of Leo since they are under its control.

Scorpio is not under the control of Leo because it lives in a hole or burrow. But human being tames or gets control over the lion also. But in Vashya Koota Milaan, all the Chatushpad are considered to be under the control of mankind except lion. Every Vashya has friendship with its own & Mitra category and enmity with Shatru and Bhakshya category.

If the Rashi of the boy exercises control over the Rashi of the girl in Vashya Koota, it is considered good in matching. It is so because since the inception of civilization our society is male dominated. So in Ashtakoota Milaan also, the domination of the boy is considered good for the conjugal life.

First of all the Vashya of the girl and boy is determined, then it is seen in the table to find in which category they fall. According to their matching category as Vashya, Mitra, Shatru or Bhakshya, the point is allotted according to their nature. If there is friendship between the two then 2 points or guna are allotted and if there is enmity then 1 point or guna is allotted. 1 point or guna is allotted if one is Vashya and the other is Bhakshya and 0 point or guna is allotted if one is Shatru and the other Bhakshya.

Example: In the example given in previous chapter, the boy's Rashi is Leo, so his Vashya is Vanachar. In the horoscope of the girl, the Moon is posited in Taurus, so her Rashi is Taurus and hence her Vashya is Quadruped.

If we see in the table, 1/2 point is assigned. Let us take another example. Suppose the boy's Moon Rashi is Sagittarius and the girl has Gemini Rashi. In this case, if we see in the given table, both are bipeds i.e humans. So, if we see again in Vashyakoota Milaan Table we find that 2 points are allotted. It means that this match is quite compatible and both the boy and the girl have similar nature, similar taste essential to enjoy happy conjugal life. The prospective life partners having similar Vashya Gunas, get attracted towards each other. Their way of thinking becomes similar and they enjoy their lives happily contributing positively and constructively in upliftment, happiness and prosperity of each other and each other's family. Their offsprings tend to become intelligent, loyal and disciplined.

Horoscope Matching

Horoscope Matching

Today “Horoscope matching” has become the indispensable part of Hindu marriage. But it has not been mentioned in any old Jataka scripture of Astrology. However, it has been described in the Muhurta scriptures of the same. In Ramayan, marriage of Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana and Shatrughna has been described elaborately. But, in this great epic also Horoscope matching has not been mentioned. Likewise, in Mahabharata, too, it has not been cited. Therefore, it can be said that Horoscope matching in Astrology was not in practice a few centuries ago. But, the community accepted and made it an indispensable part keeping its usefulness in view.
