Varna of an individual is determined on the basis of his/her Moon Rashi/Janma Rashi. Those who are born in Cancer, Scorpio or Pisces Rashi is considered as Brahmin. Other Varnas are also determined in the same manner. Varna denotes the behaviour and attitude of the individual. Brahmin shows the dignified behaviour and company of the native with others. Kshatriya signifies power, Vaishya its self interest and Shoodra shows the meekness of the individuals.

Thus, the Gunas of the prospective girl and boy are analysed after determining their Varnas. In Varnakoota, Varna of the boy should always be higher than the girl. If the Varna of the boy is higher than the girl then 1 point is given or in other words it is said that it's perfect match and 1 in 1 guna is matching. Even if the Varnas of both the boy and girl is the same, 1 point is given and considered a perfect Varnakoota Milaan. In case, the Varna of the girl is higher than that of the boy then 0 point is given. This is because the Varnas of the two denote their behaviour. Behaviour of the boy should always be more responsible and better than that of the girl. If the behaviour and attitude of the boy is good and responsible then it will be easy for him to have control over the girl so that she might pay respect to the elders and love to the youngers in the family.

In this manner, Varna of the boy is higher than that of the girl, so 1 point will be given in the matching.

Horoscope Matching

Today “Horoscope matching” has become the indispensable part of Hindu marriage. But it has not been mentioned in any old Jataka scripture of Astrology. However, it has been described in the Muhurta scriptures of the same. In Ramayan, marriage of Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana and Shatrughna has been described elaborately. But, in this great epic also Horoscope matching has not been mentioned. Likewise, in Mahabharata, too, it has not been cited. Therefore, it can be said that Horoscope matching in Astrology was not in practice a few centuries ago. But, the community accepted and made it an indispensable part keeping its usefulness in view.
